Identify both sides of the replacement
An old band marked 42 mm and a current watch called 42 mm do not automatically form a reviewed pair. The original generation, selected band design and current device identity matter. Apple's current model page separately identifies Series 3 A1859 and Series 10 A2997 as 42 mm cases. The site keeps those as different records and does not approve the legacy combination solely from a repeated number.
Do not expand a current part list backward
Garmin's selected 010-14507-00 compatible-device response is useful for the exact listed models, but it is not a promise about every old band or every device sharing a 22 mm label. An older QuickFit, another connector type or a different case size needs its own evidence. The finder uses a small actual reviewed map rather than interpolating an entire product history.
Preserve uncertainty without inventing a non-fit test
Unknown means the available reviewed record does not establish the exact combination. It does not claim that Band Reference physically tried and rejected it. Conversely, a known source relationship is not a measured lock or comfort test. This distinction lets a buyer ask the right maker question without receiving either an unsupported approval or a fabricated physical failure result.
Retain an exact reorder record
Save full part, generation or model identifier, actual case or connector size, wrist option and source date. If a future order changes any of those fields, review the relationship again. The website does not create adapters or modification instructions to bridge a missing connection. Independent device, material and content review remain pending before publication.
Make the next reorder easier to verify
A useful retained record contains the full current watch identity, exact accessory part, selected color, connector family, length option, dated offer and maker link. It does not need a serial number or a photograph of a child, wrist or skin condition. On the next reorder, compare those fields rather than repeating a short nickname such as sport band 42. If the current manufacturer changes the part or material wording, treat it as a new evidence check. A familiar appearance is not proof that the old specifications carry forward.
